Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) side Comilla Victorians have announced the retention of Pakistan’s star wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan for the 2024 edition of the event.
In the previous edition of BPL, the right-hand batter notched up 351 runs in 10 matches with a 50.14 average and a strike-rate of 126.25. He also scored four half-centuries.
“The Master of the game is here to reign supreme! Comilla Victorians proudly announce the retention of Mohammad Rizwan for the upcoming season,” the team said in a statement on its official social media channels.
Earlier, the team also retained Bangladesh’s pacer Mustafizur Rahman and top-order batter Litton Das.
Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was roped in by Rangpur Riders earlier this month.
The prolific right-hander will feature in the BPL for the first time since 2017, when he played for Sylhet Sixers.
It must be noted after making his debut against Zimbabwe in 2015 in Lahore, Azam has changed the fortunes of Pakistan cricket as the team which was recognised due to their batting failures has now turned into a match-winning outfit.
Calling Azam the key to Pakistan's success in the recent past would not be wrong on any level as he not only led this side to number one rank in ODIs but also performed consistently with the bat — with many records broken and some still to break.
Additionally, Pakistan’s pacer Ihsanullah will also be part of the Riders for the 2024 edition of BPL.
The next edition of BPL is expected to take place in January-February 2024.
