Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has revealed that he is constantly in touch with national men’s team Director Mickey Arthur.
However, while speaking on Haarna Mana Hay, Amir didn’t reveal his conversation with Arthur about taking back retirement from international cricket.
“I’m constantly in touch with Mickey Arthur. We have a good relationship apart from cricket as well. We were together at Derbyshire County recently as well,” said Amir.
“That is personal,” Amir added when asked if Arthur asked him to take back his retirement.
Amir last played an ODI match for Pakistan in October 2019 against Sri Lanka in Karachi. He brought the curtain down on his international career in 2020 after reservations with the then team management.
Earlier, Pakistan chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq cleared the air on the return of Amir in the national team in the future.
Inzamam said that performing in domestic cricket is part of the criteria for selection.
"Mohammad Amir was a good cricketer. He took retirement from international cricket. The doors of Pakistan cricket team are open for Amir like anyone else. Amir will be considered for selection if he performs well in first-class cricket,” Inzamam said while announcing the squad for the ICC World Cup 2023 last month.
Meanwhile, according to former captain Moin Khan, the 31-year-old is a great cricketer and is performing well in leagues.
"Amir is a current cricketer, he is playing leagues and performing well," Moin said in April this year.
"If there is need for Amir and room for his comeback, he should definitely come back as he is a great cricketer and in the end a Pakistani," he added.
