The Indian cricket team got one more thing to worry about after their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya picked up an injury during their encounter against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19.
Another all-rounder and one of the most important players of this current India side, Ravindra Jadeja was seen putting an ice pack on his left knee which has sent troubled signals among the Indian fans.
The irreplaceable all-rounder, who doesn’t only contribute with bat and ball but also is one of the most fielders in the world, has been suffering from a knee injury and he missed the 2022 T20 World Cup due to the same reason, after which he underwent surgery.
Even though the injury doesn’t seem serious and he is likely to participate in India’s most important match of the World Cup against the unbeaten New Zealand side in Dharamshala on October 22, an unnamed official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that he will surely be rotated soon.
“Jadeja is fine. When you have surgery, you need long-term care. Knee injuries are such that they tend to hurt back. That is why he was applying an ice pack. There is no immediate concern regarding his niggle. The medical team and the physios are keeping a tab on all the players including Jadeja,” the official told an Indian source.
The official gave a signal that India could rest Jadeja [along with other key players] once the semi-final spot is secured.
“It’s up to the team management whether they want to rotate the squad. But with crucial matches coming up, Jadeja is very important player for us. Maybe, once the semifinal spot is sealed, there could be rotations to keep the players fresh for knockouts,” he added.
It must be noted that both India and New Zealand have won four out of four matches and after Sunday’s encounter, only one team will remain unbeaten in the tournament.
