Quetta Gladiators’ Khawaja Nafay achieved a unique feat during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine match against Lahore Qalandars on Monday.
The 22-year-old stroked an unbeaten 60 while chasing a target of 188 to hand Quetta their second consecutive win of the competition while it was Lahore's second straight loss.
He anchored the innings by executing some great shots. His knock featured four boundaries and three sixes, at a striking rate of 193.54.
According to Grassroots Cricket, there have been 823 innings in PSL where batters have faced 25 or more balls. Nafay is the first batter to face just one dot ball in such an innings in PSL history – the previous lowest was two dots.
Four matches have already been played in the event with Quetta Gladiators at the top of the table with two wins in as many games.
At the end of the remaining matches, top four teams will qualify for the playoffs of PSL 9.
The fifth match of the ongoing PSL 9 will be played between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United today in Multan.
Multan entered with a commanding display in their first encounter against the Karachi Kings, establishing themselves as a formidable force in the tournament.
Meanwhile, under the captaincy of all-rounder Shadab Khan, Islamabad United kicked off the PSL journey with an emphatic victory over the Lahore Qalandars, signalling their intent in the tournament.
