Lahore Qalandars on Thursday officially announced the appointment of legendary English fast bowler Darren Gough as their Head Coach for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

This marks a triumphant return for Gough, who had an impactful stint with the team during the inaugural Global Super League in 2024.

Under his mentorship, the Lahore Qalandars showcased exceptional performances, ultimately reaching the finals of the inaugural edition of the tournament.

His successful association with the team has fueled excitement, and his return is set to energise the squad as they aim to build a championship-winning team for PSL 10.

The 54-year-old brings a wealth of experience from his illustrious playing career, which spanned from 1994 to 2006. As one of England's top bowlers, he became their leading ODI wicket-taker and one of the country's best performers across all formats.

After retiring, Gough transitioned into media, becoming a respected cricket commentator. He also served as England's bowling consultant in 2020 and later took on the role of Managing Director of Cricket at Yorkshire.

Upon his appointment, Darren Gough expressed his excitement, stating: “I am absolutely thrilled to be back with Lahore Qalandars. The passion and energy of the team, along with its incredible fan base, are unmatched. The PSL is a fantastic platform, with an amazing talent pool in the Qalandars roster, and I’m eager to contribute to helping the Qalandars reach new heights this season."

"I’m confident we can achieve something special. I believe in the potential of this squad, and together, we will work hard to bring success to the Qalandars and make our fans proud. With the unwavering support of our amazing fan base, we’re ready to give it our all and deliver exciting cricket this season.”

Sameen Rana, the Team Director of Lahore Qalandars, also shared his thoughts on Gough’s appointment.

“Darren Gough is an outstanding leader who truly understands the culture and spirit of the Lahore Qalandars. His contributions during the Global Super League were invaluable, and we are excited to have him lead our team in HBL PSL 10,” said Rana.

"With his wealth of experience and passion for the game, we are confident that he will inspire the players to give their best performance,” he added.

It is pertinent to mention that the draft for the upcoming 10th edition of PSL will now be held on January 13 at Huzuri Bagh Lahore, at 12:30 PM (Pakistan Standard Time).

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday unveiled a revised pick order for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 draft.

In a significant reshuffling, the draft categories have been reduced, with the previous three Platinum categories now consolidated into two, and the number of Diamond categories reduced from three to one.

The Gold categories have been trimmed from three to two, and the Silver categories have been reduced from five to three.

In the Platinum 1 category, Lahore Qalandars have secured the first pick, followed by Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United.

Meanwhile, in the Platinum 2 category, Quetta Gladiators have the first pick, followed by Karachi Kings.

The event, initially scheduled to take place in Gwadar, Balochistan, was relocated due to "unforeseen logistical challenges."

The PCB also revealed that Gwadar will be one of the key locations for the PSL 2025 Trophy Tour across Pakistan.
