The Indian team is all set for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which will be held in the United States and West Indies from June 1.
In a recent interview by an Indian sports channel, captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, and wicktkeeper-batter Rishab Pant discussed people’s expectations and a player’s responsibility ahead of the T20 World Cup.
During the interview, Sharma mentioned that his team won their last T20 World Cup in 2007. Since then, the team did make to the finals but was not able to win the final match.
“We won the inaugural match in 2007, since then, we made it to the finals but did not win the T20 World Cup. We now have the opportunity to win the T20 World Cup of 2024,” Sharma said.
The former captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli, considers that the fans are their strength and motivation at the same time. Through this motivation, he believes the Indian team can win the upcoming tournament.
“We cannot expect our fans to not expect anything from us, it’s not realistic. However, the team should consider them their strength. It will only become a weakness when we give it too much attention. In our country, cricket has a separate fan base and we take this as a motivation,” Kohli said.
Moreover, the wicketkeeper of the Indian team, Rishabh Pant, enjoys taking responsibility and playing hard for the team.
“The best part is taking the responsibility for the team, and I’m looking forward to enjoy the responsibility for my team,” Pant said.
The Indian team will be playing their first match against Ireland on Wednesday, June 5.
