Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir will represent the Falcons in this year’s T20 Blast for the final six T20s as he will be joining the squad after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Amir is part of Pakistan’s squad for the T20 World Cup and much will be expected of him as he returned to international cricket after four years just to help the Green Shirts win the mega event.

Amir is now set to make his debut for the Falcons against Leicestershire Foxes on Saturday, 6 July.

“Pakistan fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, will join the Falcons for the final six Vitality Blast group fixtures, starting with Leicestershire Foxes away on Saturday 6 July,” said Derbyshire CCC in a statement.

“Amir, who has claimed more than 300 T20 wickets, will join up with Mickey Arthur’s side upon the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup, where the fast bowler will represent Pakistan.

“He will be available for six T20 fixtures, including home games against Yorkshire Vikings at Chesterfield, as well as the visits of Lancashire Lightning and Durham to The County Ground, as the Falcons target a place in the knockout stages.”

The Head of Cricket at Derbyshire, Mickey Arthur, expressed happiness on signing Amir saying that the left-armer’s inclusion in the team will strengthen their bowling attack.

“The addition of Mohammad Amir to our T20 bowling ranks will give us a real boost for the second half of the group stage, and he will be a key member of our attack as we look to progress.

“Since we found out he’d be going to the World Cup, we’ve been keen to make sure he is back with us for what is a key run-in in the Blast and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to get this over the line," Arthur said.

It is worth mentioning that Amir has won two ICC trophies with Pakistan in his career so far. In 2009, he won the T20 World Cup by beating Sri Lanka in the final and in 2017, he won the Champions Trophy after a one-sided final against arch-rivals India.
