LAHORE: England’s hard-hitting opening batter Jason Roy has signed up for the upcoming player draft of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, the franchise league announced on Tuesday.

The PSL made the announcement by sharing a compilation video of Roy’s best shots on its social media handles.

“[England’s] explosive opener Jason Roy enters the HBL PSL 2025 Draft,” the league captioned the video.

Roy, who was a part of England’s squad that won the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2019, has emerged as one of the most renowned foreign players in the league’s history.

The right-handed opener started his PSL career with Lahore Qalandars before moving to Quetta Gladiators.

Jason Roy has thus far played 38 PSL matches and scored 1260 runs at a decent average of 36 and a strike rate of 146.51.

He has also scored two centuries and eight half-centuries with the highest score of 145 not out, which is also the highest individual score in the league’s history.

Besides Roy, his former England teammate David Willey and Australian counterpart Usman Khawaja have also signed up for the player draft.

It is pertinent to mention that the PSL 10 player draft will be held in Balochistan for the first time since the inception of the marquee league.

As per the announcement, the draft will take place in Gwadar, the port city of Pakistan's largest province, on January 11, 2025.

The pick order for the highly-anticipated player draft has also been announced, with two-time champions Lahore Qalandars making the first pick in the opening round of the platinum category, followed by arch-rivals Karachi Kings.

2019 champions Quetta Gladiators will make the third pick, while Peshawar Zalmi will have the fourth.

Last season’s runners-up, Sultans, and reigning champions United will make the fifth and sixth picks, respectively.
