Amid the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, squash legend Jahangir Khan and other renowned players have encouraged the Pakistan cricket team. From hockey legends to tennis champions, these players are expressing confidence in Pakistan’s ability to be successful in the forthcoming matches.
In their interview with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the ten-time British Open champion, Jahangir Khan hopes that Pakistan secures victory in the tournament.
“The whole nation is supporting the team and wants the Pakistan team to win. As a player I can say that it is a best opportunity for a player to showcase their practice in the match and make it the best performance. There’s always a winner and a loser but everyone would be satisfied if the team will at least lose while fighting for the win,” Jahangir said.
“This team consists of senior and junior players and if they move forward supporting each other, I am sure that this team will give excellent performance,” the six-time World Open champion added.
Moreover, former hockey team captain believes that Pakistan is capable of winning the tournament.
“Pakistan team have a lot of talent. Pakistan had already won the T20 World Cup once, the nation is expecting the team to win it for the second time,” Islahuddin said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq has high expectations from Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam.
“Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, the Pakistan will be winning the T20 World Cup this year,” the only finalist in a Grand Slam from Pakistan said.
On the other hand, javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem believes in the team’s hard work and preparation for the tournament, expecting their efforts to pay off with a victory.
“The team have practiced a lot and their hard work will definitely be paid off,” Nadeem said.
Additionally, Pakistan's mountaineer Shehroze Kashif shares the nations’ expectations and hopes for Pakistan’s victory.
“The whole nation has high expectations with the team and hopes that Pakistan will win this T20 tournament,” he said.
Pakistan will be playing its first match with the USA on Thursday (June 6) and the second match against India on Sunday (June 9).
