Pacer Junaid Khan took to his X account (formerly Twitter) on Sunday and revealed his playing XI for Pakistan’s high voltage clash with India today at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan lost its T20 World Cup opener against the USA on June 6 in a super over whereas India will come into the game with a win under their belt against Ireland.
Pakistan and India have encountered each other 7 times in T20 World Cups and Pakistan has only won once back in 2021.
Junaid Khan’s playing XI for Pakistan against India:
Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Amir.
Junaid Khan had previously picked Saim Ayub to open with Mohammad Rizwan for Pakistan’s match against the USA and today’s match, he has opted for the same opening pair.
Captain Babar Azam, who opened in the USA game, is at no. 3 on Pakistan’s lineup followed by Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan.
Junaid had picked spinner Abrar Ahmed in the lineup for the USA game but as Imad Wasim has been termed fit for by head coach Gary Kirsten, Junaid has replaced Abrar with Wasim.
Kirsten stated in a press conference ahead of the clash, "Imad Wasim will be available for the match against India, we will make a comeback in tomorrow’s match hopefully.”
Azam Khan, after a poor batting display so far in T20I cricket, has failed to earn a spot in Junaid’s lineup.
For the pace department, Junaid has picked four pacers including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Amir.
