England has qualified for the Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup 2024 and is placed in group B with West Indies, South Africa and the USA. The Jos Buttler led side will face the West Indies on June 19, South Africa on June 21 and the USA on June 23.

The USA cricket team has shocked everyone in the T20 World Cup 2024 and has proved to be one the most competitive sides in the event.

Their performance has compelled former captain and current commentator Nasser Hussain to urge the defending champions England – who won the title for the second time in 2022 defeating Babar Azam’s Pakistan – to not take the USA cricket team lightly.

In a podcast with fellow English commentator Michael Atherton for Sky Sports, Hussain stated, “I wouldn’t take it lightly at all. As various sides found out, Pakistan had lost the super over against the USA. Canada found out. Every side has struggled against the USA. They are a very, very good side; England will not take any side lightly.”

USA began their T20 World Cup 2024 journey by defeating Canada in the opener of the event on June 1 and in a shocking turn of events, they went on to defeat last edition’s runners-up Pakistan in a super over.

Pakistan had posted a target of 160 runs for the USA and Pakistan’s bowlers failed to defend the total, taking the game to a super over where the USA defeated Pakistan. Pakistan then lost against India which eventually led them to return home as they could not qualify for the Super 8 round in the event.

As for England, they have had a tough run in the T20 World Cup 2024. Their first game against Scotland was washed out due to rain and they then lost to arch-rivals Australia.

Their chances to qualify were solely dependent on them winning the rest of their games and Australia defeating Scotland which the Australians did and England qualified for the Super 8 round.
