LAHORE: Australia’s wicketkeeper batter Alex Carey has officially signed up for the highly-anticipated player draft of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.
“Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey has officially signed up for the HBL PSL Draft,” the franchise league announced on Thursday.
Carey, who has been a regular part of Australia’s Test, is currently featuring in the five-match Test series against India.
The wicketkeeper has thus far represented Australia in 35 Tests, 76 ODIs and 38 T20Is and scored 3712 runs with the help of two centuries and 19 half-centuries.
Carey has not featured in PSL yet. He only played one season each of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) and England’s Vitality Blast besides the Big Bash League (BBL).
For the unversed, Alex Carey is the ninth foreign player to have signed up for the upcoming 10th edition of the marquee league, joining compatriot Usman Khawaja, England’s Tom Curran, David Willey, Dawid Malan and Jason Roy, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.
It is pertinent to mention that the highly-anticipated player draft will be held in Balochistan for the first time, with Gwadar hosting the key event on January 11, 2025.
The pick order for the player draft has also been announced, with two-time champions Lahore Qalandars making the first pick in the opening round of the platinum category, followed by arch-rivals Karachi Kings.
2019 champions Quetta Gladiators will make the third pick, while Peshawar Zalmi will have the fourth.
Last season’s runners-up, Sultans, and reigning champions United will make the fifth and sixth picks, respectively.
