CAPE TOWN: Pakistan’s squad took part in a robust training session here at the Newlands on Wednesday, ahead of the second Test of the two-match series against South Africa, scheduled to run from January 3 to 7.

According to the details, the national squad practised in the nets at full potential. The players also participated in several fielding drills, which included catching practice.

The touring side eyes to bounce back in the second Test after succumbing narrow two-wicket defeat in the series opener in Centurion on Sunday.

After setting a modest 148-run target, the green shirts’ bowling attack troubled the Proteas with a disciplined effort.

Leading the way for Pakistan in the second innings was returning pacer Mohammad Abbas, who took six wickets for just 54 runs to reduce South Africa to 99/8.

His bowling exploits had put Pakistan in touching distance to a historic Test victory over South Africa in their home ground but tailenders Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen displayed nerves of steel to power their side to an important victory, which guaranteed their place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
