LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq could quit as chief selector after differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to sources, Inzamam is unhappy over the appointment of Shahid Anwar as the head coach of the U19 men’s team.
Reportedly, Inzamam wanted former Pakistan batter Mohammad Yousaf to be given the role of head coach of the U19 side.
This is not the first time that Inzamam and the PCB have failed to find common ground since they had differences in the past as well.
Inzamam had recently signed a contract worth Rs2.5 million per month with the PCB.
However, the PCB has denied the aforementioned development.
"Inzamam happily took part in the selection of U19 men's team and women's A team. We don't have any update about Inzamam being unhappy with the board," a PCB spokesperson said when approached.
Earlier this month, Inzamam was appointed as the chairman of Junior Men's Cricket Selection Committee, while already being in charge of the senior selection committee.
The four-member senior selection committee comprises Tauseef Ahmed, Wajahatullah Wasti and Wasim Haider. The seven-member junior selection committee includes Aamer Nazir, Javed Hayat, Mahmood Hamid, Naveed Latif, Salman Ahmed and Sanaullah Baloch.
Last month, former captain Mohammad Hafeez also announced his resignation from the PCB Technical Committee.
Hafeez, who served as an honorary member of the committee, made the announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter), expressing his gratitude to chairman Zaka Ashraf and extending his best wishes to Pakistan cricket.
Hafeez's decision to step down from the committee came after his tenure of just under two months.
