Copenhagen forward Mohamed Elyounoussi criticised Manchester United's midfielder Bruno Fernandes for his alleged attempts to influence the referee's decisions during his side's win over the Red Devils in a seven-goal thriller in the UEFA Champions League clash at the Parken Stadium, Denmark, on Wednesday (November 10).
Elyounoussi was one of the six scorers on the night that witnessed a spectacular game of football a seven goals, a red card and two penalties.
Erik ten Hag's men got a commanding two-goal lead within the first 28 minutes by the time the match entered in injury time, they had not only bottled their lead but were trailing by a goal just minutes away from a defeat.
Elyounoussi believes that Fernandes, who scored from the penalty spot, has a habit of whining to the officials to get decisions in his favour. He was also seen having some exchange of words with the Portuguese midfielder during the game.
"I think everyone who has seen United and who has seen him knows that he is a player who is always with the referees complaining and whining," he said.
"I tried to get him away from the referee. I said: "It’s done". It was nothing more than that. I don’t like players who go forward and try to influence the referees."
United's loss put them on the bottom of the points table in their group and they still have to play two tough fixtures against Galatasaray and Bayern Munich.
A sad Fernandes was spotted after the match and admitted that the mood in the dressing room was not the best.
"It is difficult at the moment,' he told TNT Sports. 'the mood is not the best because I think we fought so hard with ten men that even from then on it was playing against a team that plays really well on the ball, and as a part of that, many decisions went against us," he said.
"Today was a tough day but I think the team effort was good. We tried. We could have done some things better, but it was difficult for us from thirty minutes on, playing with one player less."
