Pakistan Test debutant Aamir Jamal has revealed how he planned the dismissals of two Australian batters, David Warner and Travis Head, in the last session of the first day's play.
The 27-year-old removed Head (40) and Warner (164) in consecutive overs after the duo were setting up for a big partnership.
"In my first spell, I couldn't find my rhythm. In my second spell, I felt better. Later, I spoke to the captain and wanted another spell. We planned for both of them (Warner & Head) with short balls, and that helped us succeed. Head was playing the cut shot well so it was our plan to have the (catching) fielder outside the circle. He was playing the shot even if it wasn't that short, so that's how we got him out." Jamal said after the day in the post-match presser.
Meanwhile, the right-arm pacer revealed that he has experience of playing in Australia before.
"I've been to Australia in 2017 where I played in Sydney. Playing in Australia against Australia is always challenging," he added.
Jamal stressed they will plan to claim quick wickets with the second new ball early on day two as Shaheen Afridi and Khurram Shehzad are bowling well.
"Both bowlers are bowling well with the second new ball. We're planning to get them out in the first hour tomorrow morning. Both batsmen are playing their shots so if they're doing that, we might get them early on," he added.
Remember, opener David Warner starred on the opening day of the first Test between Pakistan and Australia in Perth on Thursday.
The home side reached 346-5 at stumps on day one with Mitchell Marsh (15) and Alex Carey (14) on the crease.
In the lead-up, former paceman Mitchell Johnson questioned whether Warner deserved a hero´s farewell given his recent poor red-ball form and involvement in the 2018 ball-tampering scandal.
The 37-year-old Warner, in his 110th Test, responded in typical swashbuckling fashion, scoring 164 runs while hitting 16 fours and four sixes in his 211-ball knock.
