IPL 2024: Virat Kohli bags unique record during RCB vs LSG

Indian middle-order batter Virat Kohli bagged a unique during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RBC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Kohli, 35, is playing his 100th match in Bengaluru, making him the first Indian player to play 100 T20 matches at a single venue. The 35-year-old is followed by former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma who has played 80 matches at Wankhede Stadium.

Remember, Kohli is the only player in the IPL history to have played for only one team since the beginning of the league in 2008. The 35-year-old has been associated with RCB since 2008 and never even became a part of the auction.

He recently became the player with the most sixes for RCB in the franchise’s history. The 35-year-old surpassed Gayle to achieve the feat.

It must be noted that Kohli has scored 79 centuries in international cricket in his 15-year-long career. Including 50 ODIs, 29 Tests, and One T20I century.

Most notably, the former RCB captain scored 973 runs in the IPL 2016 with an impressive average and strike rate of 81 and 152 respectively where he scored a record four centuries in a single IPL season.

He is the fastest player to score 12,000 ODI runs in 242 innings. A record which was previously held by Tendulkar who achieved the feat in 300 innings.

Also, the fastest player to score 3500 T20 international runs in 96 innings, a record which was previously held by Rohit Sharma who achieved the feat in 126 innings.
