Yuzvendra Chahal became the first bowler to take 200 wickets in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The leg-spinner achieved this feat while representing Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing 2024 season match against Mumbai Indians.

Chahal was one wicket away from reaching the landmark before the game, and he achieved it by dismissing Mohammad Nabi.

Chahal has proven to be a valuable addition to the Royals since he joined them in the 2022 edition of the T20 league.

In that year, the seasoned player claimed the Purple Cap as RR ended as the runners-up, falling to Gujarat in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In 17 matches, he secured 27 wickets, demonstrating his domination.

He is currently third on the list of leading wicket-takers for RR in T20 matches, following the legendary Shane Warne (67) and fast bowler Siddharth Trivedi (65).

In the current IPL edition, Chahal is among the leading wicket-takers, alongside the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel. Last year, Chahal surpassed former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo to become the leading wicket-taker in the IPL.
