Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine is having his best season in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 both with the ball as well as the bat.

Narine has been on fire in the IPL during his side's game against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday, he became just the third cricketer to score 400 runs and take 15 wickets in a single IPL season after Jacques Kallis and Shane Watson.

In the ongoing season, Narine has accumulated 461 runs and bagged 15 wickets. Watson (472 runs and 17 wickets) for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2008 and Kallis (409 runs and 15 wickets) for KKR in IPL 2012 are the only players other than the West Indies all-rounder in this list.

With KKR already in the IPL playoffs and the form Narine is in, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the 35-year-old scores 500+ runs and also take his wicket tally to 20 or more.

Earlier in the match between KKR and MI, after the match was restricted to 16 overs due to rain, cameos from batters helped Kolkata Knight Riders to get 157/7 in the allocated overs. Venkatesh Iyer was the best batter, scoring 42 off 21 balls.

Nitish Rana, in his comeback game, chipped in with 33 off 23 while Andre Russell (24 off 14), Rinku Singh (20 off 12) and Ramandeep Singh (17* off 8) made valuable contributions.

For Mumbai Indians, Piyush Chawla and Jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets each.

In the chase, the five-time champions started strongly with Ishan Kishan (42) taking the charge. But, the middle-order batters struggled to get going and lost wickets at regular intervals.

Harshit Rana, Andre Russell and Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets each.
