Pakistan’s pacer Naseem Shah revealed the top three wickets of his career so far but the right-armer talked more about his wickets in Test cricket as he believes that taking one in red-ball is far more difficult.
Naseem made his Test debut with Pakistan in 2019 against Australia and has now become one of the most important members of the team.
Talking on a podcast with a local sports channel, Naseem was asked about the top three wickets of his career and the right-arm pacer named New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, and Australia’s Steve Smith as his two best wickets in red-ball cricket.
“I will talk about Test cricket obviously because when u take a wicket in that format, u feel some satisfaction. Kane Williamson, he is someone you need to work very hard to get out. I felt very good after taking his wicket because I had been bowling to him for a long but he was playing very well,” Naseem said.
“Second, when I removed [Steve] Smith. He, too, is someone who doesn’t get out very easily in Test cricket. I had to work very hard to get him out. Third, I will talk about ODIs, I was bowling against New Zealand to [Devon] Conway in Karachi, these are the only ones I can think about right now.”
The 21-year-old also talked about the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, mentioning Pakistan’s bowling attack saying that if people consider you the best, then it is your responsibility to perform like that.
“It’s obvious that when the world talks about you and when people consider our bowling as the best [in the world], then we have to perform as the best. It has its own pressure but if you focus too much on that, you miss out on [other] things. I have learned since my U19 days that whether we do good or bad, the process should continue with discipline. You cannot ignore what people say on social media completely, that’s the truth but if someone talks good, take it and if someone talks about it, then we ignore it,” he added.
