Canada defeated Nepal by 63 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match on Monday in Dallas.
Nepal won the toss and elected to bowl at the Grande Prairie Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, Canada scored 183 runs for 7 within 20 overs. While Nepal were all out for 120 in 19.3 overs.
Canada’s Nicholas Kirton scored 51 runs, with four fours and two sixes in 39 deliveries. Ravinderpal Singh added 41 runs to the total, which contributed to the success of their team.
The Canadian bowlers also gave their best as Dillon Heylinger took four wickets while Jeremy Gordon and captain Saad bin Zafar contributed by taking two wickets each.
Additionally, after defeating Nepal, Canada are all set to face the Netherlands in a final warm-up on Friday, May 31.
In the second warm-up match, Oman defeated Papua New Guinea by chasing 138 runs with five balls remaining. It was held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, earlier today.
Papua New Guinea had to bat first after losing the toss. Despite finding scoring tough, Lega Siaka, 28 off 24, and Alei Nao, 17 off 10, pushed the team to 137 runs from 20 overs.
On the other hand, Oman impressed with their balling as well as batting. All-rounder Zeeshan Maqsood made 45 runs from 42 balls. Meanwhile, Aqib Ilyas bagged figures of 3-22.
Moreover, Namibia secured win over Uganda by five wickets in the third warm-up match earlier today. The toss was won by Namibia and they elected to field.
In the battle between two African teams, Uganda scored 134 for 8 within 20 overs. While Namibia scored 135 for 5.
Uganda’s Robinson Obuya made 38 from 27 followed by Roger Mukasa, scoring 51 from 41 balls, including six fours and one six.
On the other hand, Nikolaas Davin of Namibia gave a commendable performance, making a half-century, including five sixes. The highest partnership of 85 runs for the second wicket was made by Davin and JP Kotze.
However, JJ Smit ended the match by scoring 21 not out and handed Namibia the victory.
Moreover, Namibia would be facing Australia tomorrow, May 29, in Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
