The Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup 2024 is well underway in the Caribbean with eight teams grasping for a spot in the semi-final of the event.

The eight teams are divided into two groups with India, Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Group A and the USA, England, West Indies and South Africa in Group B.

India and USA progressed into the Super 8 from Group A, Australia and England from Group B, West Indies and Afghanistan from Group C and South Africa and Bangladesh from Group D.

The hype has led to fans and former cricketers speculating their favourites to reach the semi-final stage of the event.

Talking to a fan in the Caribbean, the T20 World Cup’s commentators Dale Steyn and Shaun Pollock revealed their semi-finalists for the tournament.

“I think from this group (Group 2) I am going to go with South Africa and West Indies. I gotta go with South Africa because they are my team. England is a tough team but I think South Africa and West Indies and then from the other group (Group 1), it is a tough group but Australia because they just know how to win these tournaments and I have a feeling Afghanistan could push, but it is gonna be India,” stated Steyn.

Meanwhile, Pollock stated: “India and Australia from 1 and South Africa and I will have to go with West Indies from Group 2 because I am surrounded by West Indians."

So far, two games of the Super 8 have been played between South Africa and USA and the other between West Indies and England. South Africa won against USA and England beat West Indies.

Today, Afghanistan and India will face off each other at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
