Former West Indies cricketer and renowned commentator Ian Bishop lauded Pakistan’s pacer Aamer Jamal after the latter’s impressive performance during the Perth Test against Australia.

Australia were dismissed for 487 in their first innings on the second day as Jamal, who is making his debut, claimed a six-wicket haul for Pakistan.

Jamal was on song as he claimed four out of five wickets that fell on the second day during Australia's batting. The right-armer finished with figures of 6 for 111.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Bishop said “that’s a Test debut that Aamer Jamal won’t forget”.

Before Jamal, Arif Butt, Mohammad Nazir, Shahid Nazir, Mohammad Zahid, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Sami, Shabbir Ahmed, Yasir Arafat, Wahab Riaz, Tanvir Ahmed, Bilal Asif, Nauman Ali and Abrar Ahmed had also taken a five-wicket haul on their Test debuts.

Jamal is also the only second Pakistani after Arif Butt to achieve this feat on Australian soil. Butt had claimed this feat at Melbourne in 1964.

These were also the sixth-best bowling figures by a Pakistan player on Test debut.
