In a significant development, Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi is set to return to the squad after missing the first half of the season due to No Objection Certificate (NOC) issue and will be available for their home against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 25.
Farooqi was retained by SRH before the IPL 2024 auction. However, concerns arose regarding his participation in the league when the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) initially refused to grant him an NOC, following his decision to decline a central contract from the board.
Subsequently, the ACB agreed to issue NOCs for the next two years. However, they rescinded this decision when Farooqi reversed his stance and expressed his intention to represent Afghanistan once again.
It must be noted Rajasthan Royals currently hold a four-point lead at the top of the IPL 2024 points table following a commanding nine-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at home on Monday, thanks to a 59-ball century by Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai are teetering at seventh after a fifth defeat. Gujarat Titans had climbed to sixth place in the standings after securing a three-wicket win against Punjab Kings at Mullanpur Stadium in Mohali on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered a heartbreaking one-run defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.
KKR moved up to second place in the standings, vying with SRH for that position. Meanwhile, RCB find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table with only one win.
