Manchester United is set to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in their 17th Premier League (PL) match, and their historical record against Jurgen Klopp’s side away from home is far from impressive.

Not only have they struggled to secure a victory, but Manchester United have also failed to find the back of the net at Anfield since 2018. Jesse Lingard was the last player to score for the visitors at The Reds’ fortress, where they suffered a 3-1 defeat that ultimately led to the dismissal of then-manager Jose Mourinho.

In addition to this dismal away record, manager Erik Ten Hag will have to navigate the match without his captain, Bruno Fernandes, who is suspended due to accumulating five yellow cards in the league, a consequence of the Portuguese' actions during last week’s home defeat to Bournemouth.

Despite this setback, the 20-time PL champions received a significant boost as star striker Marcus Rashford recovered from a fever and is expected to participate in Sunday’s derby.

Liverpool, on the other hand, is dealing with several injuries, with Alexis Mac-Allister, Thiago, Robertson, and Jota all missing the upcoming encounter

Predicted Lineups:

Liverpool: Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil Van Dijk, Konstantinos Tsimikas; Wataru Endo, Crutis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai; Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz

Manchester United: Andre Onana; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Diogo Dalot; Scott McTominay, Sofyan Amrabat, Kobbie Mainoo; Antony, Ramus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho.

United's most recent triumph at Anfield occurred in 2016 when the legendary Wayne Rooney, a former player, scored in a hard-fought 1-0 victory. Since that memorable win, they have encountered considerable difficulty in overcoming Liverpool.

Erik Ten Hag does not boast an impressive record against Klopp. His previous visit to Merseyside resulted in United suffering their worst defeat in Premier League history, a crushing 7-0 loss to The Reds.
