The secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah, will continue as the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), confirmed the Asian cricketing governing body on Wednesday.

His reappointment as the continental body's chief was unanimously agreed upon during the ACC Annual General Meeting in Bali on Wednesday, 31st January.

Jay Shah assumed the presidency of the ACC for the first time in 2021, succeeding Nazmul Hassan in January of that year. His term as the ACC president was extended until January 2024.

At the age of 32 in 2021, Jay Shah became the youngest administrator to take on the role of ACC chief.

Shah is now all set to continue in his role as the ACC chief for another two years. He completed his initial two-year term in 2021-22 and was reappointed as the ACC chief in 2023.

"I am grateful to the ACC Board for their continued trust. We must remain committed to ensuring the all-round development of the sport, with a special focus on regions where it is still in its infancy. The ACC is committed to nurturing cricket across Asia," Shah stated after his re-election.

Jay Shah guided the ACC through challenging times as the COVID-19 pandemic impacted world cricket. The men's Asia Cup took place in 2022 in the UAE after being relocated from Sri Lanka due to the latter's financial crisis.

Shah also supervised the implementation of a hybrid model for the men's Asia Cup 2023, played in the 50-over format in Sri Lanka which was hosted by Pakistan, a decision for which he was greatly criticised due to never-ending rain in the country.
