RAWALPINDI: Top-order batters Usman Khan and Fakhar Zaman are in the running for number three spot in T20I cricket for Pakistan since the team management wants Mohammad Rizwan to play at number four in the batting order.

According to Geo News, majority of the members in the team management are in favour of changing Rizwan’s batting position. However, captain Babar Azam doesn’t agree with this as he wants Rizwan to open the innings in case Saim Ayub fails to deliver.

Meanwhile, sources have also revealed that Rizwan is concerned about the change in his batting position since he wants to open the innings because of his good performance at that position.

Fakhar is yet to feature in the ongoing series against New Zealand, meanwhile Usman has scored 12 runs in two innings.

Additionally, Rizwan could miss the remainder of the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand due to a hamstring injury.

Rizwan suffered the injury during the third T20I against New Zealand in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

The team management could make the decision on Rizwan’s availability today after looking at the scans.

It must be noted that New Zealand made a stunning comeback in the five-match T20I series courtesy of Mark Chapman who led the visitors to victory on Sunday.

The series is now level at 1-1 with two matches remaining in Lahore. The matches are scheduled on April 25 and 27 at the Gaddafi Stadium.

After conclusion of the series against New Zealand, Pakistan team will play three T20Is against Ireland and four against England away from home next month.
