Australia defeated Namibia by seven wickets in the T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match on Tuesday in Trinidad.

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl at the Queen's Park Oval Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, Namibia scored 119 runs for 9 within 20 overs. While the 2021 T20 World Cup winners, won the game by scoring 123 runs for 3 with 10 overs remaining.

Namibia struggled a lot at 50 for 6, but managed to recover. Zane Green made 38 runs off 30 deliveries followed by Malan Kruger scoring 18 off 11 balls.

Despite the poor performance given by David Warner in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he scored 54 runs today with six fours and a trio of massive sixes.

Moreover, Tim David by making 23 off 16 contributed to the chase.

Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis were not present in the warm-up match on Tuesday following the conclusion of the IPL but Australia were still able to gain victory with only nine players of their T20 World Cup squad.

In an unusual occurrence, Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald, assistants Brad Hodge and Andre Borovec and national selector George Bailey were also used as subs since Australia were down to nine men.

Borovec, who is fielding coach, and Bailey were the first-choice subs when the match started.

Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh suffering from a hamstring injury, fielded in only half of the innings against Namibia.

Australia will be facing West Indies in their final warm-up match on Thursday, May 30, at the same venue.

Earlier in the day, the warm-up fixture between the USA and Bangladesh in Dallas was called off due to heavy downpour and the Netherlands registered an impressive 20-run win over Sri Lanka in Florida.
