Legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has equalled the record of scoring most goals in 2023.
The 38-year-old, who plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, has now scored 52 goals for club and country in 2023.
His 52nd goal came against Al Ittihad via a penalty in the 19th minute of the game.
The Portuguese equalled Paris Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane — who also have 52 goals each.
Ronaldo has a chance to become the top goal scorer since both Kane and Mbappe Kane and Mbappe are finished for the year.
Ronaldo's final match of the year is against Al-Taawoun on December 30.
Apart from the goals, Ronaldo has also provided 15 assists in the 58 matches he has played this year.
Remember, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who has scored 50 goals this year, still has an outside chance of going past Ronaldo since he also has two games left this year.
Although, the Norwegian striker is back in training after he missed the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia, due to a foot injury, but he is unlikely to play the full 90 minutes in the remaining matches of the year.
