The 38-year-old finished 2023 as the top goal scorer with 54 goals

Cristiano Ronaldo - Al Nassr

Al Nassr, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, exhibited their ruthless prowess against Al Taawoun. While the match was anticipated to be closely contested, Luis Castro's team demonstrated their true quality with a convincing 4-1 triumph.

Ronaldo, who delivered an impressive performance, secured a well-deserved goal in the 92nd minute.

After the game, the elated Portuguese player shared on Instagram, and it appears he's nowhere near 'finished'.

The goal against Al Taawoun brings the football icon's tally to 20 goals in 18 league matches. Ronaldo concludes the year as the league's leading goal-scorer, a remarkable feat considering his age of 38.

After the triumph over Al Taawoun, the Portuguese star turned to social media to express his thoughts. The caption for his post read: “54 – I’ll say when it’s finished! Thanks, team!”

Here, 54 refers to the number of goals that Ronaldo managed to score in the calendar year. It seems like he wants to put to bed all the rumours of his retirement.

The star ends 2023 as the leading goalscorer in the year. Behind him are Harry Kane & Kylian Mbappe with 52 each. A huge turnaround for a player who scored just 16 goals in 2022. If he continues like this, there is no reason as to why CR7 can’t continue to excel at the highest level.

Upon moving to Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese boldly proclaimed the Saudi top-flight would become one of the top-five leagues in the world.

"I'm happy because when I made the decision to come here nobody believe what I said," the Portuguese told Saudi broadcaster SSC Sport.

"But that is the past. It doesn't matter anymore, the most important is that the league has grown and that players want to come because they know the league is competitive and the whole world is watching now," he added.

Previously, the Portuguese icon stated his desire to secure at least five titles with Al Nassr before retiring. Therefore, it appears that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner isn't considering retirement in the near future. This sentiment aligns precisely with that of his Portuguese teammate.

Portuguese midfielder Otavio knows Cristiano quite well from their time at Al Nassr and the National team. Otavio recently opened up on Ronaldo’s plan regarding retirement.

“Cris always jokes that it’s time to relax, but I’ve already told him you’re going to have a great European Championship and you’re already thinking about the World Cup," the midfielder said.
