The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will pay a two-day visit to France where he will meet with Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, reported French news outlet L’Equipe on Tuesday.
Mbappe is likely to leave PSG at the end of the summer to complete his long-awaited move to Spanish club Real Madrid.
The Emir will have a dinner with PSG star on Wednesday evening alongside France’s president Emmanuel Macron where he will, as per sources close to the club, make an offer to the Frenchman to stay at the club.
The option of a new deal with improved salary plus benefits is also considered by the French club.
While some sources close to the club have confirmed that the Emir will take advantage of the meeting and make an offer, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that there will be no discussion about Mbappe’s future during the meeting.
As per Fabrizio, it is understood that Mbappe and Real Madrid are in advanced talks and PSG will respect their star forward’s decision of moving to a new club.
It is worth noting that Mbappe was close to joining Real Madrid in 2022 but after a meeting with the Emir of Qatar and Emmanuel Macron, he changed his mind. However, such doubts are downplayed this time as the 25-year-old has made up his mind.
Remember, Mbappe earlier informed Nasser Al Khelaifi, the president of PSG, that he will leave the club after the end of the season as a free agent.
It must be noted that Madrid have been trying to sign Mbappe since his AS Monaco days in 2017-18 but the player decided to join PSG on a €180 million deal.
The deal was likely to happen last summer after the 25-year-old sent a letter to the French club saying that he would not extend his contract till 2025.
However, as per multiple reports, everything between the two parties has been finalised and only an official announcement is pending after which the transfer will be confirmed.
