Karachi and Lahore are two of the biggest cities of Pakistan and both have their own distinctive qualities that separate the one from the other.

While Karachi is known as the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, Lahore does have famous buildings that define the history of not just the country but also the sub-continent.

Often referred to as “The City of Lights”, Karachi is widely recognised as the city that never sleeps due to its late-night food streets that are open as late as 2-3 am. Meanwhile, Lahore’s greenery, and its heritage differentiate it from other cities.

The rivalry between the two cities has spread to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings have played some of the finest and most thrilling matches in the years.

Even though the Qalandars have more trophies than their arch-rivals, it is the Kings who have a better record of 7-4 in their favour in head-to-head between the two sides.

Out of all of their encounters, their most important match was when the two sides faced each other in the final of PSL 2020, which was the first final appearance of both sides.

The Kings side led by then captain Imad Wasim took on Sohail Akhter’s led unit in the final in search of their first PSL title win.

The Qalandars opted to bat first and were restricted to just 134/7 in the allocated as the Kings’ deadly pace attack made it impossible for them to score runs.

The 135-run target turned out to be a piece of cake for the Kings who dominated the PSL 2020. Despite facing early blows in their chase, Babar Azam stood till the end and took his side over the line by playing the winning knock of 63 runs on 49 balls with seven fours.
