Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by two runs in the 23rd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Despite being far away from the target at one point, the Kings made a late comeback in the game with Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma firing boundaries down the order but they couldn’t take their side over the line and suffered a narrow defeat.
Rajasthan Royals, with four out of four wins, continue to sit at the top of the points table while Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) remained second with six points from four matches.
IPL 2024 points table
Remember, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the joint-most successful teams in the history of IPL as both sides have won the tournament five times each. Other than these two, KKR won it twice, while Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers managed to lift the title once each.
Despite having legendary shorter-format figures like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, Jacques Kallis and others, Royal Challengers Bangalore never managed to win the title despite playing the final thrice in 2009, 2011 and 2016.
