Real Madrid achieved a unique feat during their thrilling win against FC Barcelona on Sunday at Santiago Bernabeu.

With the victory, Real Madrid have now beaten Barcelona three times in a row in a single season for the first time in 88 years.

Madrid came back from behind twice before Jude Bellingham scored the winner in injury time to beat the champions. The result left second-placed Barca 11 points adrift of the table-toppers with six matches left.

The defeat comes after Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday in a stunning 4-1 loss against Paris Saint Germain.

"It's hard to find words for it. It's an accumulation of many things. We have not been at the level of competitiveness that we should have been. And that cost us," Barca goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen told Movistar Plus+.

But the win capped a perfect week for Carlo Ancelotti's side after they qualified for the Champions League last four on Wednesday after beating holders Manchester City on penalties.

"What a great night for being a Real Madrid fan, it's incredible," Luka Modric told Real Madrid TV.

"It's a win that edges us closer to the title, it's what we want. It was a great game, we never stopped believing. We were behind twice but kept fighting, playing well, pressing and in the end we came back time and time again."

According to Opta, it was the first time in the 21st century that FC Barcelona have led twice in a LaLiga El Clasico and lost.

Bellingham also became the first player to score for Madrid in their first two Clasicos in La Liga since Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2007.
