In a major setback to the Green Shirts, all-rounder Imad Wasim will miss out the first match of the T20 World Cup against the United States of America (USA) on June 6 (tomorrow).

Confirming Imad's unavailability in the first T20, skipper Babar Azam said: "Imad Wasim is suffering from a side strain, which means he won't be able to play in our opening match."

The 35-year-old is recently suffering from a side injury, however, he might be playing in the other World Cup matches, depending on his injury.

Babar was also hopeful about the all-rounder's participation in rest of the matches of the T20 World Cup.

"Although Imad won't play the first game, we hope that he will be available for the rest of the matches," he added.

Meanwhile, Imad's absence might impact the team’s performance in their match against the USA on Thursday.

Pakistan will be facing India in their second match on Sunday (June 9) and will be playing against Canada on Tuesday (June 11).
