KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly denied the reports regarding the formation of a disciplinary committee, Geo News reported on Sunday.
"No disciplinary committee has been formed, nor has any decision been made to take action against any cricketer," PCB said.
"The news about the formation of the committee and the task of making a report are baseless and contrary to the facts. The news regarding the imposition of bans and fines on players is fabricated," the cricket board added.
There have been reports in the local media that both foreign head coaches of the Pakistan team, Gary Kirsten for white-ball cricket and Jason Gillespie for Tests, have recommended that the PCB avoid taking disciplinary actions against players, allowing them to concentrate on the upcoming international season.
Last month. the reports suggested that coaches and management had complained to the chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi over Shaheen Afridid’s attitude during T20 World Cup, it has emerged that Afridi, in fact, had exchanged heated words with Yousuf, but had later said sorry to him.
Multiple sources within Pakistan cricket team management had confirmed to Geo News that the issue was “heat-of-the-moment” and it was sorted out immediately. There was nothing to report about it.
Recalling the incident, a source told Geo News that while Afridi was bowling in nets at Headingly, Mohammad Yousuf – who was the batting coach with the team on tour of Ireland and England – had pointed towards his no-balls.
Upon being called out for bowling no-balls repeatedly, Shaheen got furious – and this is the point where it started.
