Former Chelsea star John Terry has identified the team he thinks has the potential to clinch the Champions League title from Manchester City this season.

Under Pep Guardiola's guidance, City secured their inaugural Champions League victory in June by triumphing 1-0 over Inter Milan in the final held in Istanbul.

They emerged as favourites to claim a consecutive title this season, comfortably topping their group ahead of RB Leipzig, Young Boys, and Red Star Belgrade.

Despite City's recent struggles in the Premier League, managing just one win in their last six games, they are set to face Copenhagen in the European competition's last 16 and are anticipated to advance.

Conducting the draw for the last 16 at UEFA's primary headquarters on Monday was Terry, who serves as one of the ambassadors for this season's Champions League final at Wembley.

Terry pinpointed the only team he believes will raise the Champions League trophy in London next year.

"I think you have to look at Real Madrid. They've been fantastic for the last seven or eight years in the competition, and they're always there [in the latter stages]," he said.

"I think Jude Bellingham's been incredible as an individual. They have a fantastic manager, I worked alongside Carlo for many years at Chelsea and he's a great man manager. The players love him, and he's great tactically. I think they'll go a long way."

Ancelotti oversaw Terry's tenure at Chelsea from 2009 to 2011, and together, they contributed to securing a Premier League title at Stamford Bridge during the Italian's initial complete season.

After leaving Chelsea, the 64-year-old has clinched the Champions League trophy twice with Real Madrid, supplementing his previous two titles achieved with AC Milan in 2003 and 2007. He aims to bolster his record as the most accomplished manager in European Cup history by potentially securing a fifth title this season.

It must be noted that the UEFA Champions League 2023/24 round of 16 matches have been confirmed which will begin in February 2024.

Teams finishing top of their groups were drawn to the runner-ups from other groups. However, teams from the same country cannot face each other.

UCL Round of 16 matches:

- FC Porto vs Arsenal FC

- Napoli vs FC Barcelona

- Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Sociedad

- Inter Milan vs Atletico de Madrid

- PSV Eindhoven vs Borussia Dortmund

- Lazio vs Bayern Munich

- FC Copenhagen vs Manchester City

- RB Leipzig vs Real Madrid
