India is likely to visit Pakistan this year after the Amateur Baseball Federation of India accepted their request to play against one another.
The president of the Pakistan Baseball Federation Fakhar Ali Shah confirmed that he had a telephone conversation with India’s secretary Haresh Kumar, where the two discussed the possibility of India visiting Pakistan to play baseball.
Kumar told Fakhar Ali Shah that India would like to play Pakistan in the future. The team would travel through Wagah Border should they get the visas in time.
Ali Shah then went on to reveal that a multi-nation tournament will begin in Lahore from April 15 to 22. The series will include the men’s and women’s teams of Malaysia, Pakistan and India.
Ali Shah stressed that the teams in the Asian region don’t have great rankings and by playing in this tournament, they would get a chance to improve that before the commencement of the West Asia Cup.
Remember, Pakistan is the defending champion of the West Asia Cup. The Green Shirts beat Palestine 11-3 in the final to clinch the title in 2023.
Meanwhile, in the Asian Baseball Championship in December 2023, Pakistan finished third in Group B below Japan and the Philippines.
