Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has opened up on his decision to retire from international cricket.
The 35-year-old bid farewell in November 2023 and opted to feature in T20 franchise leagues all over the globe.
While talking to a local news website, the all-rounder termed his decision right but he is also willing to come back if Pakistan need him.
"The decision I took, I was 100 % in it. But you never know when Pakistan needs you; you have to do something about it," he said.
Imad reiterated that he needs clarity as a senior player over the style of cricket Pakistan want to play going forward.
"What I want to know is about clarity — it's about giving me responsibility, not as a captain but as a senior player, to take the team where I want to or where a group of senior players wants to take it.
"I want Pakistan to play the right cricket, the right style, and the right combination. There is nothing wrong with taking retirement. I'm really happy; I'm still playing cricket all over the world," he added.
Imad concluded by saying, "Hopefully something good comes up soon."
It must be noted that Imad is currently involved with Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at the UAE's ILT20. Since retirement, he has featured in the T10 League and Big Bash League (BBL) too.
Remember, Imad last represented Pakistan in a T20I series against New Zealand in 2023 and his sudden retirement came as a surprise to many.
The all-rounder made his international debut in May 2015 against Zimbabwe and went on to represent Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is. He took 109 wickets and scored 1,472 runs in his international career.
Imad had been a key member of the Pakistan team over the years and was part of the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning squad. He also played in the 2016 T20 World Cup, 2019 World Cup, and 2021 T20 World Cup.
