Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has finally accepted that French striker Kylian Mbappe will join Real Madrid in the summer.
According to AS, the PSG chief has admitted in private that Mbappe has already agreed with Real Madrid and will join them at the end of the ongoing season. He has also instructed the club to not make the player any further contract offers.
Earlier, Spanish daily MARCA reported Mbappe signed a contract with Real Madrid till 2029. "In negotiations, there were disagreements over image rights but Real Madrid managed to get an agreement with Kylian Mbappe on terms lower than the 2022 offer based on Florentino Perez’s instructions. For the club it was essential not to blow up their wage structure,” Marca added.
Last week, Mbappe informed Nasser Al Khelaifi that he will leave the club after the end of the season as a free agent.
As per renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the terms of the departure are yet to be fully agreed upon. PSG and Mbappe will communicate together about the latter's exit in the upcoming months.
Mbappe has been a long-standing target for Real Madrid in recent years, but a move to the Santiago Bernabeu has yet to materialise.
Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 champions have been trying to convince the 25-year-old to put pen to paper on a new contract since the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
Signing a new deal would have prevented him from leaving the club in the summer of 2024 for free. The France captain, though, refused to sign the dotted lines and has now informed his colleagues that he would be leaving as a free agent.
The winger is enjoying a rich vein of form in the ongoing campaign having scored 32 goals in 31 matches across all competitions. He will be next seen in action for the club on Sunday when they take on Rennes in a Ligue 1 clash.
