Former Pakistani leg-spinner and current spin-bowling coach of Bangladesh cricket team, Mushtaq Ahmed, engaged with young spinners in the country and gave them valuable advice.

Mushtaq, who performed the spin bowling coach’s role with England (2008-2014), West Indies (2018-19) and Pakistan (2020-22), has also held the position of the Pakistan team’s bowling consultant (2014-16).

16 leg-spinners were identified by the Game Development Department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) courtesy of an extensive nationwide search after which they received coaching lessons from the legendary spinner during an indoor training session.

Mushtaq monitored the wrist spinners’ bowling performances during the practice session and provided them guidance wherever it was required.

"All of you are the future of Bangladesh Cricket. You all have to give your heart and soul in training, nobody can cheat success," Mushtaq was seen telling the group of boys in a video sent by the BCB.

"You can't take wickets by bowling good balls, you have to bowl good overs to take wickets. One good ball would never get you a wicket," Mushtaq advised the young wrist spinners.

Remember, Mushtaq was appointed as Bangladesh’s spin-bowling coach for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in the United States and West Indies from June 1.

Mushtaq took 185 wickets in 52 Tests at an average of 32.97 while he also claimed 161 wickets for Pakistan in 144 ODIs.

He played a key role in propelling Imran's Tigers to World Cup glory in 1992, memorably snaring Graeme Hick with one of his googlies in the final.
