Pakistan triumphed over Australia to secure a 1-0 lead in the three-match volleyball series at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.
The match saw Pakistan taking the first set with a score of 25-22. Both teams demonstrated strong offensive and defensive plays, but Pakistan managed to edge out Australia with consistent serves and strategic spikes.
The second set mirrored the first, ending again at 25-22 in favour of Pakistan. Australia's attempts to even the score were thwarted by Pakistan's solid blocking and quick reflexes.
In the final set, Pakistan continued their dominant performance, securing a 25-20 win. This decisive set highlighted Pakistan's ability to maintain pressure and capitalize on Australia's errors.
It must be noted the series is being organised by the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) at the request of the Australian Volleyball Federation.
The second and third match will be played on May 29 and May 30. The matches will start at 6:30pm, and entry for fans and supporters is free.
Remember, the Australian volleyball team touched down in Islamabad on Sunday afternoon. For the first time ever, the Australian volleyball team has toured Pakistan to play international matches.
Chairman PVF Ch Mohammad Yaqoob praised the visiting team as one of the best.
“It will be a cracker of a series as Pakistan has recently won the Central Asian title while Australia is ranked much higher. Both teams are preparing for the Challenge Cup to be held in Bahrain next month,” he said.
