Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has disclosed that he found inspiration for bowling yorkers by observing Waqar Younus, Wasim Akram, and Zaheer Khan on television.

The 30-year-old secured nine wickets in the game, contributing to India's 106-run victory over England, thereby equalizing the five-match Test series at 1-1.

Bumrah's yorker to Ollie Pope stood out as the highlight of the Test match.

“The yorker was the first delivery I learnt. While playing with the tennis ball, I learnt it. I saw on the television Waqar, Wasim and Zaheer execute it and I learnt it,” Bumrah said at the post-match presentation.

It was a day where Bumrah again showed all his worth and might. He picked up the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley to end England’s resistance

“I don’t look at numbers. When I was young, I looked at numbers and got excited. But I don’t look at it now. It gives extra baggage. The important thing was to win and I’m happy with it,” he said.

When asked about being the leader of the pace bowling attack, Bumrah said: “Not a leader. But I feel I have played a good amount of cricket as we are in a transition period. So, I feel it’s my responsibility to give the youngsters knowledge.”

On a pitch, where spinners were struggling, Bumrah alongside James Anderson displayed the fast bowling masterclass.

“I’m a fast bowling fan. I love watching fast bowling and I don’t feel I have to pull up my socks. If somebody’s doing well, kudos to them.,” he said.

“I look at the situation, at the wicket and think what are my options. I should not be a one-trick pony. I should execute it on the conditions that I play in," he added.

India and England will now lock horns in the third Test in Rajkot, which will start from February 15.
