KARACHI: Pakistani right-handed batter Abid Ali achieved a unique feat during the match between Pakistan Television (PTV) and Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) in the President Trophy on Saturday.

Abid completed 10,000 runs in domestic cricket after scoring 106 runs against PTV as he achieved the feat in 261 innings.

Abid Ali made his ODI debut for Pakistan against Australia in March 2019 in Dubai where he scored 112 runs and became only the 15th batter, and third for Pakistan, to bag a hundred on his debut in ODIs.

After an impressive outing in Dubai, he was named in Pakistan’s preliminary squad for the 2019 World Cup which was played in England and Wales but failed to make the final squad.

The right-handed batter made his Test cricket debut in December 2019 against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi, where he also scored a century, becoming the first male cricketer to score a century on both ODI and Test debut.

In 2021, Abid complained of having chest pain during a domestic match after which he was rushed to the hospital.

Later on, the 36-year-old was diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) and had to undergo angioplasty the same month.

After months of rehabilitation, extreme care, and several tests, Abid was allowed to play competitive cricket by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The right-handed batter last played for Pakistan in an ODI match against Bangladesh in Mirpur. He has, since then, not been a part of the national squad and is showcasing his abilities in domestic cricket.
