India defeated Bangladesh by 60 runs in T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up fixture at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

The Men in Blue restricted Bangladesh to 122/9 after scoring 182/5 batting first.

Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube each claimed two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya also contributed with a wicket apiece.

Mahmudullah was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 40 runs before being dismissed while Shakib Al Hasan made 34-ball 28.

Earlier, Pant strengthened his case for a spot in India’s playing XI for the T20 World Cup as the first-choice wicketkeeper-batter by scoring a 32-ball 53, guiding his side to 182 for five against Bangladesh.

Sanju Samson opened the batting alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, as Virat Kohli, who was expected to open, skipped the match after arriving here only on Friday. However, he managed just 1 run before being dismissed by Shoriful Islam.

Sharma didn’t last long either, falling to Mahmudullah for 23, while Shivam Dube also struggled, scoring just 16 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav also blasted 18-ball 31 while Pandya, coming off a disappointing IPL, looked rejuvenated in national colours, smashing 40 runs from 23 balls, including three sixes in one over.

India will commence their campaign against Ireland on June 5, followed by a match against Pakistan on June 9.

Subsequent fixtures include encounters against the USA and Canada on June 12 and 15, respectively. India will contest all their group-stage matches in the USA. From Group A, two out of the five teams will advance to the Super 8s stage, with India being the favourites to progress alongside Pakistan.
