England didn’t have the most pleasant tour of West Indies as they lost both, ODIs and T20Is, series against the Caribbean side but head coach Matthew Mott remained confident that the team will learn from their mistakes.

England started their white-ball tour with a four-wicket loss in the first ODI and ended it the same way in the fifth T20I.

The visitors lost the ODI series 2-1. Meanwhile, despite making an excellent comeback after losing the first two T20Is, they failed to carry on the good form and ended up losing the fifth match, eventually losing the series 3-2.

Mott was confident that the team got enough lessons on this tour which could come in handy during the 2024 T20 World Cup, as England will play all of their matches in West Indies, according to a report.

"We really could not have got many more lessons from this tour," Mott said.

"West Indies thoroughly deserved their win but we've had some really good performances here. There's some exciting things in the pipeline."

The World Cup starts in June and England only have one more T20I series scheduled which will be played against Pakistan in May next year at their home.

Despite this, Mott believed that the players would get enough opportunities to prepare for the mega event as they play white-ball leagues all over the world.

"It's not as big an issue as people think," he told TNT Sports. "Our players are getting opportunities in white-ball leagues all around the world.

"They're playing a high level of cricket. That's the modern game. We will get out here to the West Indies a little bit early if we can and make sure we are prepared and ready for an amazing World Cup."

England will now travel to India to play a five-match Test series from January 25 to March 11 in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25.
