Former FC Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is set to reunite with his former teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami, reported renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano on Friday.

Miami and Suarez reached a verbal agreement a month ago and the deal has been finalised as a one-year contract will be offered to the prolific Uruguayan striker. There will also be an option to extend the contract for a further season.

The 36-year-old will combine with his former Barcelona teammates with whom he created history at the Blaugrana club.

After completing his move to Barcelona from Liverpool in 2014, Suarez guided Barca to a title win in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League (UCL) where he scored seven goals and assisted three times including a goal in the final against Juventus, which Barca won 3-1, winning the fifth UCL in the club’s history.

He went on to play 283 games for the five-time UCL winners where he notched up 195 goals and provided 113 assists. El Pistolero won La Liga, Copa del Ray four times, and Spanish Super Cup twice while FIFA Club World Cup and UCL once.

He left Barcelona in 2020, after which he joined Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid where he played 83 matches and netted 34 goals while providing six assists. The 36-year-old also became the X-factor for the Madrid side and helped them win La Liga 2020/21 over Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid and Ronald Koeman’s FC Barcelona.

After creating his legacy with Atletico Madrid, the Uruguayan left the club and joined the Uruguayan club Nacional, where he had a very short stint of 14 matches.

In 2023, Suarez joined Gremio, a move that caught the Brazilian team off guard. He tallied 24 goals in 52 matches and clinched two regional competitions. After initially agreeing to a two-year contract, he opted to cut short his tenure, citing injury woes.

The 36-year-old has played 768 games throughout his career where he scored 471 goals and had 263 assists.
