Chelsea legend Joe Cole urged his club to sign Real Madrid duo, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, to add the much-required experience to the team as the Blues are continue their struggle in the ongoing season.
Chelsea, under the ownership of Todd Boehly, adopted a new transfer policy of signing top young players to make the team's future secure as the Blues have spent around £1billion to strengthen their squad in the last two years but it has come to little-to-no use.
While signing young players is necessary to have a secure future, a club struggles to perform on the pitch without experience and that is exactly what is happening with Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino’s men have no leader to look upon when things get difficult during a match.
Even though Pochettino’s side reached the Carabao Cup final, which they lost to Liverpool, and are currently in the FA Cup semi-final, things are not going too smooth for the Blues as they currently sit 11th in the Premier League points table with 39 points, 25 behind Arsenal who are on the top.
Cole believed that the signings of Modric and Kroos be crucial for Chelsea as the two of the best midfielders to ever grace the game can come and help this young Chelsea squad nurture.
"Does Luka Modric want to come and play in the Premier League for one more year? He's still doing bits at Real Madrid. How much has he helped [Eduardo] Camavinga, [Aurelien] Tchouameni, [Federico] Valverde? He would have had such an influence on them as players,” Cole said as quoted by the Mirror.
"Toni Kroos is 34 but does he want to test himself at his age, coming over here and helping out this young squad."
Remember, both Kroos and Modric are running out of contract at the Spanish capital. While the German is likely to get one-year extension, the Croatian’s chapter at the club seems over as Los Blancos have no intentions of renewing his contract.
