Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma revealed the secret behind his successful partnership with Travis Head in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Sharma, 23, is one of the most in-form batters in the tournament as the left-handed batter has amassed 257 runs in just seven innings at a massive strike rate of 215.96. He has also hit 24 sixes, which is the second most.
During the match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, Abhishek and Head hit 131 runs in just 6.2 overs, taking their aggressive cricket to the whole next level which helped SRH register a remarkable win over their opponents.
Talking after the match, the youngster stated that he was always looking forward to batting with Head as he is one of the best batters across formats in the world.
"Obviously really joyful to watch him and we've been talking a lot off the field and that is really helping. He is someone that I was really looking forward to bat with throughout the season and even the Punjab boys know that I used to really admire Travis Head in all three formats and luckily we got him in our side," Abhishek said in the post-match press conference.
"I have put in a lot of hard work before this tournament in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and that is helping me a lot," Abhishek further added about his batting.
SRH had already written history in IPL history after scoring the most runs in a single innings twice, once against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They did it once again and scored the most runs scored in the powerplay, 125 with no loss of wicket in the first six overs against DC.
Sharma played his part during this feat as well by scoring 46 runs on just 12 balls with the help of two fours and six maximums.
