Australian spinner Adam Zampa became the first men's player from his team to take 100 wickets in the T20 World Cup on Wednesday.

The young Australian cricketer was able to achieve this feat after their face-off with Namibia at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Meanwhile, bowling first, the 32-year-old bagged four wickets by dismissing the wicket-keeper Zane Green, right-arm medium fast bowler David Wiese, left-arm bowler Ruben Trumpelmann, and right-handed batter Brenard Scholtz.

Zampa has bagged 100 wickets in 83 matches at an economy rate of 7.20 while Australian pacer Mitchell Starc stands second with 76 wickets in 62 matches of the T20I at an economy rate of 7.72.

“To get the win tonight and qualify for Super Eights, is a nice feeling. (One if he feels the ball is coming out well) Yes and no. I bowled a couple of pies tonight but in general, the ball feels like it is coming out well. Being encouraged to pick up wickets in the middle, particularly by the captain. (Challenging of bowling with the breeze) We experienced that in Barbados as well. We know on these wickets that is a challenge. We’re happy, it is the first step in trying to take the trophy home but a long way to go,” Zampa said in the post-match presser.

On the other hand, Namibia scored 72 runs and were all out within 17 overs while Australia scored 74 runs for 1 in 5.4 overs only.

Namibia openers Michael Van Lingen and Nikolaas Davin could only make a 14-run partnership, with the former scoring 10 runs from 10 balls and the latter made 2 runs from 7 balls.

Moreover, skipper Gerhard Erasmus was the only player to score the most runs in the match (36 runs from 43 balls). He contributed to the total 72 with four fours and one six.

On Wednesday, Zampa took four wickets and gave 12 runs only to the opposite team at an economy rate of 3.00 while Josh Reginald Hazlewood and Marcus Stoinis bagged two wickets each.

Pat Cummins also dismissed Jan Frylink of Namibia.

Australia will be facing Scotland on Sunday (June 16) at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia.
